I'm not this way, and I don't understand their ways, they're alien to me, much like I'm alien and weird to them.
I want to be successful or at least handle this life better than I currently am.
But, all the praying and god in the world isn't really helping me do that. Sure I get more knowledge, and I change myself,
but if anything, it's making me even weaker in a sense, because instead of succeeding and being like all the big boys out there, I'm turning into a %26quot;happy wimp,%26quot; and I'm not trying because I'm too satisfied with %26quot;God.%26quot;
I like God but I don't want to be a loser either!%26gt;
What is the secret to these people's succes over mine? The people who are all up in the know about the latest stocks, business strategies, everything world related?

How about for the love of money is the root of all evil?
If you are a follower of God, you will undergo periods of long-suffering and it is due to everyone else that play the superficial, condescending, back-stabbing, kiss-a** ways of the %26quot;dog eat dog%26quot; world that we live in. It sucks when you are one of the ambitious ones that is trying to climb the ladder of success---only to have others step on your knuckles!
Keep the faith in your abilities and try not to let yourself get caught up in the %26quot;ultimate rat-race%26quot; because I personally believe you will be a better person for not compromising your individuality.
God said to have no fear because He provides food for the birds of the air and fish of the sea---so don't worry, we mean more to Him than them. Also, He provides the worm---it is up to us to go out and get it though. Be a simple man---like the Lynyrd Skynyrd song and be something that you will love and understand. To know true contentment is to be rich at heart and the further you go on your quest for knowledge---the less you know---sometimes.

that is why it is so hart to read your bible at times...to pray at times even tho you knwo you will enjoy it and be blessed by it.
Because business and ways of the world are REAL and get us what we want in life.
Late last year, I took it upon myself to *educate* myself on the stock market, something I knew NOTHING about. Most people, when they don't understand something, opt to seek out more information about it.
I have never understood why Christians refuse to do this.
FYI, my research and education has paid off -- literally -- so far.
Being happy IS success. Neither business nor prayer do it for me, but if praying makes you a happy person, what else do you want?
Most evidently you, like the rest of humanity, have bills to meet, obligations with family children etc to sustain ..... the usual needs like shelter, food, insurances, health situations etc... all dealt with the legal tender obtained by work. No matter how hard you pray and how sincerely ...... god does not pay the bills, $$$ does....therefore, a person must do what a person must do to meet all the practical things this modern day world imposes on us.....it is either that or leave all worldly things behind an go up a mountain and become a hermit....can you do that?????
You make no sense - how can you be a true believer and still consider yourself a loser? Why would you place any value on financial success above salvation?
But, to answer your question - it is because business and the ways of the world are real and matter, while the %26quot;Ways of God%26quot; are make-believe and don't really matter.
The word of God says,'what profit a man when he gain the whole world but looses his own soul?'being rich or successful without God in their heart is nothing..
in the sight of god you are more richer than them because you have God in your heart..so you don't think being a looser..
because you actually have to spend your time working for something instead of praying to %26quot;god%26quot; (aka talking to yourself) that it will happen.
most of those people do well in business because they went to business school. you can start by reading barrons or the wall street journal just to keep up with stocks and what is going on in the business world.
Even churches follow this business and greed path. All you have to do is look at the Vatican, or your local church. You will see that many churches are the size of small cities, and are swimming in wealth and extravagance. They too, just like the Exxons, and Walmarts, of the world are based on greed. Theses churches really do %26quot;take from the poor%26quot; and give to themselves.
Pray from morning to night. Sleep in the church if you like. The Bible says that if you do not work, you are as good as DEAD!
If you work and bring your tithe (10%) to the church, you graduate into a successful business man.
If you are able to renovate the portion of a church and sponsor concerts, you get promoted from member to a junior Pastor.
If you are able to interpret the bible and spread the gospel in your own little way, you get promoted to a Reverend.
If you can invest your money in owning a church, you automatically become a General Overseer.
The more members you get, the more richer you become. You promote yourself to Bishop or Pope!
If you believe in God to develop a character that will allow you to live for eternity, then God will direct your path in the way you need to go to develop that character. So, it could very well be that He has totally different plans for you in this life.

To be clearer... you might be a christian, and find yourself fulfiled in all the way you live your life; so, this is your world, and from here start all the viewpoints that you have on all topics, such as those businessmen, those successful nonwhimps or winners.... on the other hand, from their point of view, you might be seen as a %26quot;happy whimp%26quot; or %26quot;loser%26quot;...
The fact remains that you are branding yourself from a point of view that doesn't belong in your lifestyle. Therefore, when you say, %26quot;happy whimp%26quot;, you are actually seeing yourself from their point of view. There's obviously a clash here..
In this case, we are talking about adjectives and irrelevant labels; we aren't talking about sure facts or resolved terminology... I mean, you are not american(example) because somebody wishes to insult or praise you. you are such because it's a given undeniable fact. You might be a whimp or loser because somebody wants to insult you, or better, your lifestyle.
as simple as that; what is a loser to you, might be a winner to me. Therefore, why care so much?
To come back to your question...
It is natural that people be more inclined towards the material world, because the senses they use(or we) are directly connecting to the material world.
As to say, we have 5 senses that connect us to the material environment. We might have one sense that connects us to the spiritual world...
If we all were able to see the spiritual world with our very eyes, or connect to it with the fulness of our senses, what would be the point of a salvation, or a spiritual warfare, or choice, or taking sides, or teaching, instruction etc etc etc...
Christians chose a higher path for their lives, other than the surrounding milliew of the materialism; or so most of them claim, or so most of them want to, but just confuse the doing with saying or just don't happen to know themselves.
people are more inclined towards the material world, simply because they chose so. you should have known this already.
the good and bad are simply standards or concepts acceptable to some this way, or acceptable to the rest when reversed.
These concepts are explained in their whole truth only by God and instruction has already been given to mankind.

Our role is to work hard for two reasons: to gain the respect of those around us and so we won't be dependant on anyone.
Go read the verse, heck read the chapter while your at it. Being a man of god doesn't mean you should be stagnant, but really it should give you the strength to endure the life god has given to you.
Just ask god for the strength to compete and win. Then turn on the business channel, get the wallstreet journal, pick up a book on economics and have a go.
Just remember to give god his time and thank him when you get that promotion.
