What will be the next great technological revolution?

And don't say cleantech. That's not a revolution. It's simply a technological shift.

Anyway, here is what I mean.

During the late 1700's and early 1800's the revolution was in the form of the textiles industry.

In the mid-late 1800's there was the steam engine and railroads.

The early 1900's bore witness to the electrical revolution - as in radio, automobiles, mass production, household appliances, etc,...

The mid 1900's saw the rise of consumer goods and electronics.

And recently, we've undergone the information technology revolution.

What's next? The primary characteristic of each past advancement was a revolution of the way business was conducted and a huge impact on society and culture. I don't believe green technologies, although important, will change the business world and make a lasting impression on our culture when all is said and done. My best bet would have to be robotics and smart technology.

Are there any ideas out there?
What will be the next great technological revolution?
Energy Efficiency. A commentator in the Entrepreneur magazine said the industrial age is over and the information age has begun, more produce will be supplied closer to consumers. New forms of cleaner energy will be developed and more efficeint consumption developed. Fosil fuels are limmited, so look to renewable energy, billions are beeing spent on reaserch and development.

You might not beleive in green technology but it is the future.
What will be the next great technological revolution?
Look around you, your in one, look up computers from 10 years ago compared to now, there is no comparison, or a car from 20 years ago compared to now, they went from carburetors to fuel injectors which get better mileage and road maps to built in GPS. Your in a technological revolution and it's pretty cool.
