Best massage therapy schools in New Jersey?

After 28 years in the business world, I'm looking to change careers and have decided to go back to school for massage therapy. Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best massage therapy programs in northern or central New Jersey? I'm looking for an accredited school, with financial aid, career placement services, and full-time day classes that will prepare me to pass the national certification exam. I live in West Orange.

There isn't any best massage school really anywhere- it is more about what is best for you as you have different needs and learning styles.

Most schools do not have full time classes for the most part because people are usually working but there may be a few out there.

Just go to all of the local schools and find out about them. Talk to teachers, students, graduates. If they have a student clinic - go and get a few massages and see what school you like best.

You may or may not need an accredited school or need to take the national certification exam. There is a new exam that is being accepted by many states offered by the Federation of State Massage Boards although NJ is yet to accept it but hopefully will soon. It is a much better test and process.

Here's what you need to know. The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork is the standard exam taken by massage therapists in the US. The first link is their main website and the second is to find a school near you.

Good luck! I'm in my last semester of massage training.
