What if all celebrities, athletes, business owners, television personalities.... did this?

What if each one of them donated 5million dollars to a fund that is strickly for poverty stricken contries..... Do you think that the monies collected would end or put a dent in to hungry, starvation and diease in 3rd world countries.

I.e... Oprah, Micheal Jordon, Carmello Anthony, Lebron James, Larry King, Micheal Douglas, Bill Gates, .......................... they have the power to change the world............ So, why don't they!
What if all celebrities, athletes, business owners, television personalities.... did this?
Donations don't actually help out in the long run. Sure, they may provide some schoolbooks or medical aid, but long, proper development should be the thing all these people should donate their time and money to : infrastructure, justice, fighting corruption etc.

Also, Bill Gates has donated about 20 billion of his fortune to his Charity. I don't think he should be in the 5 million list.
What if all celebrities, athletes, business owners, television personalities.... did this?
Because they're probably %26quot;too busy.%26quot; But Oprah in many ways have helped. And we can do too! It doesn't have to be celebrities, athletes, business owners, television personalities. WE CAN DO IT!
4Real! Its because they are butts!
no it woulnd not help to many greedy dictaors. out there if the president of that certain country wanted there people to stop starving they could do somehting about it. the poblem is the leaders of that country
that would be AWESOME poverty would be a lot better and yes they do have the power to change the world because they're up there WHY DON'T THEY?? i dunno they're prbly too %26quot;busy%26quot; and they dont' care about anybody besideds themselves
Why could'nt they stop hunger and starvation in our own Country?

Would'nt that be better? Home is where the heart is.
You could. Now, are the receiving entities straight? Will those who need it, get it? Are they really poor or the result of internecine gang warfare?

See what I mean? Ya gotta do it on your own. Meet people. Too many have the motto:

%26quot; Death before inconvenience. %26quot;
I think it would do a lot of good in this world, but things wouldn't change overnight. Money changes a lot, but you need people willing to do the dirty work beyond cutting a 5 million dollar paycheck, too.

As much corruption as there is in America there is in Africa and Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and sometimes even on a grander scale. To get food, clothing, some idea of shelter to these people will require the removal of weapons, hate, in some cases the ceasing of genecide, etc. etc. etc. It is a great idea, but it is so much more than a money problem over there. (But don't stop sending money to good people who do work over there!)
Alot of these people already donate alot more than that in a year.
